Gordon Burton

Gordon Burton - gordon.burton@bleasbyprimary.org.uk

Parent Governor & Chair of Governors

Term of office - 26/10/22 - 25/10/25

I have two boys, one of which is at Bleasby School. I have worked in Olympic/Paralympic sport for twenty years. I initially worked in the field of sport science and technical innovation as well as coach development in British Rowing and GB Canoeing. I then spent 8 years at UK Sport leading their high-performance coaching team and then as an advisor working with a broad portfolio of Olympic and Paralympic teams, also during this time I worked for Team GB through Beijing 2008, Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010, London 2012 and Rio 2016. Part of my role at UK Sport contributed to UK policy and investment models relating to high performance sport. Most recently I was Performance Director for Equestrian Team GBR and now run a consultancy using lessons learnt from high performance sport to facilitate effective strategy development and clear, confident and connected people.

Alicia Price

Alicia Price

Vice Chair & Co-opted Governor

Term of office - TBC

Alicia has long connections to the local community, having lived in Gibsmere and latterly, Fiskerton where she is presently a parish councillor. Her 3 children all passed through Bleasby CE Primary School and during this time, Alicia was a Parent Governor and for a time, Chair of Governors. Alicia brings experience of teaching as well as board experience. Among other things, she understands educational data and what is required to make a successful school.

With Alicia, we all want to give affirmation and encouragement to our excellent staff, know the school really well and be able to ask challenging questions when necessary.

Angela Dunning

Angela Dunning

Foundation Governor

Term of Office - 30/01/2022 -

I am currently a busy/baby food covered mum of three young children and am enjoying a career break to share their early years. Up until last year I worked for 8 years as a primary teacher across a range of year groups. Prior to teaching I worked for the Education Department in Sheffield in the Research and Analysis Team. I love teaching, education and all aspects of working with children. I am a parish councillor in Bleasby and am enjoying volunteering to support anything I can in the local community.  I like sports, music, food, reading and dancing.

Revd Dr David Emerton

Revd Dr David Emerton

Foundation Governor

Term of Office - 18/01/20 - 17/01/24

My wife, Naomi, and I have lived in Bleasby for 2 years and have two daughters at the school – Lois, in Year 3, and Sophie, in Year 1.  I am currently Director of St Mellitus College, East Midlands – a Church of England theological college (vicar school!) that offers ordination training as well as full- and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate study.  Before that I was the Principal of the School of Discipleship in the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham working closely with Bishop Paul.  Prior to moving to Bleasby, I was a Teaching Fellow in Systematic & Historical Theology at the University of Aberdeen.  I have served as a member of clergy in the London Diocese of the Church of England, and prior to ordination I worked in the City of London as a corporate lawyer.  Outside of theology and the church my interests include: Liverpool FC, crime novels and endeavouring to keep fit.  As a Foundation Governor I am deeply interested in the Christian ethos of the school as well as its vision and values, but also the question of how the school instils curiosity in children as an educational virtue.

MAXINE MEADEN

Maxine Meaden

Staff Governor

I have been working at Bleasby School since February 2021. Prior to that, my son Ted attended Bleasby School (as did I, many, many years ago!) As well as being a full-time school administrator and mum, I am married to my husband Rob. Our unsociable cat Matilda, and our very excitable Labrador, Duke, make up our family unit.

In my spare time I enjoy yoga, reading, going to the theatre and listening to live music!

Lian Britchford

Lian Britchford

Parent Governor

I have one daughter who is at Bleasby school. I have a busy life as I run a marketing and print management business but fortunately have a great team of 24 staff who enable me to work school hours only so I am able to enjoy my time with my daughter which is very important to me.

I have a strong background in communications, marketing and management, so my skills are beneficial in the areas I work as a Governor. I am involved in the Comms team, Finance and Fundraising. I work closely with the BSFA and am keen to support all they do for the school. Bleasby is a fantastic school and I hope my time as  Governor will help ensure that all the community know this, that the staff feel truly valued as we really do have amazing staff throughout and that the children have a rich and nurturing education and time whilst at Bleasby.

Please feel free to get in touch with me at any time as I welcome your feedback and input into school life.

Matt Lilley

Matt Lilley - matthew.lilley@bleasbyprimary.org.uk

Parent Governor with Responsibility for Safeguarding

My wife, Tracey, and I have two children at the school and have enjoyed seeing them flourish at Bleasby! We live in Thurgarton and I have seen how important a happy school life is, and the impact this has at home, and so am keen to support the school to be the best it can be.

I have spent most of my working life in the pharmaceutical industry in various sales, management, and marketing roles. I currently head up the Commercial business for a rare disease pharmaceutical company.

In my governor role I have a particular focus on safeguarding, and find it very rewarding working with the other governors to progress the strategic direction of the school, and ensure that the children have a rich, challenging, and exciting school experience; and that the staff feel motivated and valued.

Outside of work I enjoy running and training for endurance runs, and if I have the time I have been known to do some acting in the odd amateur dramatic production.

Adele Poulson

Adele Poulson - adele.poulson@bleasbyprimary.org.uk

Foundation Governor

I am a recently retired Chief Operating Officer, and HR Director with over forty years’ experience in the public and private sector, including twelve years within the Church of England. During my working life I have spent time developing business strategies and converting them into plans for delivery by leading, guiding, and developing multi-disciplined teams to deliver effective and efficient systems, processes, and behaviours. As a Foundation Governor I am deeply committed to supporting the amazing work of the school; from supporting the teaching staff, to working with my fellow governors on the strategic direction of the school.  My husband and I live in Southwell, and I spend some of my spare time volunteering within the education department at Southwell Minster.
